Well I really don't like taking chances after what happened to m other iBook G4 1.42:eek:. And I have to take my iBook to school back and forth everyday. Take it to school and then take it to my Mom's or my Dad's [whose ever day(divorced parents)]. And I really think that my iBook is going to get broken or something is going to happen. So my solution: get another computer. And the computer I'm going to get is the eMac. The iBook will come over if needed, but will primarily be used at my Dad's house. The eMac will be at my Mom's house. She is helping out A LOT - $500. I would use my PC but, she took it away from me as I was bringing my iBook over all the time so she was like, what they hey and gave it to my brother. I can't get it back. So, I'm stuck, and the eMac is the sollution.

    Here are the specs:
    512MB SDRAM DDR333 - 1 DIMM
    160GB Ultra ATA drive
    8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD+RW/CD-RW)
Internal Bluetooth Module + AirPort Extreme Card
Apple Keyboard & Mouse + Mac OS - U.S. English
    1.42GHz PowerPC G4
ATI Radeon 9600 w/64MB DDR video memory
    56K internal modem
    Integrated stereo speakers

I'm really happy with those specs. I don't mind the CRT. I'm also getting a Mighty Mouse.

    Order Subtotal: $1,032.00
    Free Shipping: $0.00
    Estimated Tax: $64.50
    Estimated Total: $1,096.50

What do you think? Will this machine do me good? Should I save up some more for an iMac? (Money is limited)

I only need $351 for it.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I have a feeling we'll be seeing the El Capitan for another year at least. Otherwise, why would they bother rearranging the innards for the MDD's? We all know that the massive power supply and heat sink isn't being used fully by the current hardware sitting in there, so we'll at least be seeing that played out (I hope... ).

Personally, I'd go with the El Capitan case for good and not complain. :) The handles are great, the flip-down side is invaluable, now all they need is a front-mounted USB and FW port and I'll be happy!

I spoke to one of my dealers today and they offered me two demo 20" ACDs for c250$ less than the 23".

I do hobby video and photos with no chance of going pro. The two things that bug me about the two displays are 1. the "gap", especially when watching DVDs (can I?) and 2. I loose c150pixels in height vs the 23", important for portrait mode, or is 150 something I should get over??!!

Thanks - you've steered me right so far, guys! :)

This is strictly amateur analysis but what seems particularly not great about this is that AAPL from basically the beginning of the year had been on a protracted slide down until that last quarterly report came out and beat expectations. Then things turned north. So go back and revise/remove that report... and what happens?

Having said that, if we see the magic phone or next generation iPod in the next month or so, I think people will want in.

If there's a duet with Tupac on that album, I'll buy it.

Haha that would be cool but I don't think so

I don't think he was trying to sound like a jerk, its just that you didn't answer the question...

People really do this these days, he was just trying to clarify... Nothing to take offense about.

I think the hues on the old minis varied a little, too. My niece has a pink iPod mini that is noticably more violet than some of the pink ones I've seen on display.

That's pretty impressive. Apple can actually have 20 gazillion phones put into production before they've even picked someone to design the "applications processor". This is how far sighted a company they are, most people have to design things before they build them, but Apple, you see, has vision, and with vision, well, anything can happen.

Word has it that they actually shipped the first Macintosh 128k twenty years before the 68000 was designed.

Just because we're hearing about portal player making the chips Now doesn't mean that they were just selected now. Who's to say they picked PP to make the chips before the phones were put into production? The sequence of rumors released doesn't indicate the sequence of events apple is taking.

If it's HTML you can drag an image into the body of a message.

If it's plain text it can only be added as attachment.

You'll need to reduce size before attaching.

Apple has dropped major OS X developed into improving HFS+, little 64-bit architecture support for Proapps, lack of Blu-Ray support makes my job with OS X more difficult, no R.I. development, no mid-tower between the top iMac and entry level Mac Pro, spaces went from a useful 3D grid to the iOS 2D format which makes utilizing a system for projector based presentations more difficult (the grid made placing and accessing customized app placement easier for corp presentations), etc.

I understand your sentiment, it is true Apple makes way more money on iOS, but I have some issues with some of your points there.

Take a look at Lion, it's got a new filesystem called Core Storage.
It's got new API's which will make apps even more sophisticated.
Apple is still dedicated to Pro Apps, Final Cut X will have 64-bit and all.
You can't argue that the new iMac isn't pro level, with 2 thunderbolt ports.
The new spaces is a ton easier, since switching between them is now a gesture on my Magic Trackpad. Love it.

When working on my iMac, randomly, my iMac screen goes gray (it fades from top of the screen to the bottom, locks me out and the message asks me to hold the power button down and reboot. It's a mid-2010 iMac. Any suggestions to make this stop??

I had been using Windows XP in Boot Camp for almost a year and decided to install Windows 7 instead. I am having trouble opening many files. In XP, I used MacDrive to read/write to my Macintosh HD and I have updated it to the one with Windows 7 support, but every program (games) I try to run off of it give me a network error, "Network Error: Windows cannot access (FILE PATH). Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise it might be a problem with your network..."

This only happens with applications on the Macintosh HD.

I copied the file onto the windows partition it runs normally, but i will run out of space soon if I have to keep doing this. Does anyone know how to fix it? Everything worked fine in XP. Thanks.

Hi, due to a recent user error I managed to import my whole hard drive into the folder structure in aperture 3. This left me with thousands of new folder entries. I've tried deleting them but doing it from the root of the directory seems to crash aperture. I've had to resort to drilling down into the directory and slowly deleting the folders one by one. At this rate I'll be done by Xmas.

I was thinking about exporting my good projects / folders to a new catalogue and then dumping the existing one. Is this possible?

Any suggestions as to how I might overcome this problem?

    cheers!

Still no company address on the iEmulator website. I still have the same reservations about sending money to an unknown vendor. Especially without knowing what value they bring to the table beyond the freeware its based on.

Note that in their FAQ they say 200 MHz (under Windows) - 550 MHz (under DOS) Pentium (not P3 or P4). You can take for granted this is best-case scenario.

If it was dropped it could be a damaged hard drive. Try to see if you can boot the mac from the recovery disks.
