Memory fart, I'm retired, and happy to be so. :D

I currently work with three not-for-profits, but the CCS is the only one I can claim to offer any hope to others, as a cancer survivour myself.

Had some laughs today, with a new-to-me passenger, on her 2nd treatment day.

    We share a diagnosis. :)

Oops!?! my bad. For some reason I was thinking your volunteer work as a driver was a regular job type of thing. Either way it's so cool that you do that. People facing cancer need hope. My cousin just go the word from MD Anderson that they feel his colon cancer is at stage 4. Scary stuff. :(

Anyone think a price drop for the iPhone tmw? If Steve suprizes us again with another 100-200 price drop, I would pick up an iPhone in a heart beat.

i don't want to be to much of a b**** to the kid. He made his very large mistake and I think that he learned his lesson from his totalled car, broken arm, and extremely jacked up insurance bill. It wasn't my car though- am I still eligible? You should of heard me lecture him. Haha.

His insurance company is going to drop him I swear. $70,000 car, 2 doctor's time off from work, our medical bills, his destroyed car....

First, the kid won't get dropped unless his insurance company is something stupid like Freeway Insurance or Survival. I was in a bad accident, 17, hit a car, deemed it was 100% the other lady's fault, had Allstate at the time. They hired a team of attorneys to battle for me because she tried to sue despite the fact that she ran a stop sign in front of two motorcycle cops. Long story, even if it were my fault I wouldn't have gotten dropped. Allstate later wanted to raise my premium to twice the price, but that also had to do with the claim we had for the 1994 northridge earthquake and tore our house in half.
His premium will go up either to something wrongfully high or he'll get a bump that will still sting. If he's dropped, again it'd have to do with the crappy insurance. I can kill a person and my insurance would cover it. I have great insurance and I carry 100/300/100 plus a few extras.

If you were in the car the girl's insurance has something that can help you as well. It's all about liability and you should be taken care of.

Lastly, suing a minor is really stupid and anyone actually suggesting that he sues a minor needs to do some research. The kid won't have to pay. At least my lady waited until my 18th birthday.

That jornalist is an idiot. See the Apple logo on the back of all those 'phones'? That's not Apple's logo! That's Applele's logo, and MANY renderings have come out of that website for YEARS, all bearing that logo. It's just his expression of what he think would look cool on the Apple product line. This is in no way real!

    Good day!

This book is a great way to learn about the most common UI controls and it will give you a good idea on how to use them.

However, you WILL want a more in-depth book after using this one to learn about MVC.

Despite posting impressive sales of the iPad last quarter, Apple saw its tablet market share drop from 95 percent to 77 percent as shipments of Google Android-based tablets chipped away at the company's tablet dominance, a new report says.

    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/01/31/apples_share_of_tablet_market_slides_to_77_android_rises_to_22.html

( Bit of a dramatic title by Apple Insider, 2.1 million Android tablets were sold to bring down the iPad marketshare to 77% )

Not at all surprising. Eventually, the open platform will always win over the platform that only one player uses. The iOS platform will become a niche platform just as Mac OS (X) still is one today.

If you want to own a market, you have to open your platform to other players, just like Google and Microsoft license their software to whoever wants to make hardware and software for them. Divide et impera - divide and rule. Apple never understood this simple concept.

In the wake of a highly-publicized disclosure (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/20/researchers-disclose-iphone-and-ipad-location-tracking-privacy-issues/) last week regarding iOS location tracking and discussion of similar activity found on Android-based devices, All Things Digital has gone back and cut together a video clip (http://kara.allthingsd.com/20110426/a-probe-in-your-pocket-heres-apples-steve-jobs-and-googles-andy-rubin-talking-privacy-at-d8-and-dive/) of comments from Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Google mobile boss Andy Rubin on privacy to remind readers what key executives have said about the issue in the recent past. Jobs' interview took place at the D8 Conference (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/01/steve-jobs-in-opening-interview-session-at-d8-conference/) last June, while Rubin's took place at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference back in December."We take privacy extremely seriously," said Jobs, who addressed the smartphone location data issue in particular. "A lot of people in [Silicon] Valley think we're old-fashioned about this."Rubin's comments focused on the basic Android operating system, reporting that there is nothing in that code that sends data back to Google. But obviously Google's own services and other extensions built on top of Android could report such information given the touted open source nature of the platform. Both Jobs and Rubin make some pretty strong privacy-related statements in these videos, so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.We reported yesterday (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/25/steve-jobs-on-ios-location-issue-we-dont-track-anyone/) on an apparent email response from Steve Jobs to a user claiming that Apple does not track users, but Apple has yet to issue a more thorough response in the face of increasing questions from users and inquiries from government representatives and agencies in a number of countries.

I was having the same discussion on another forum as well and they all convinced me to stay away from RAID0 for this system, the files are too important to risk for a little speed boost.

The new direction I'm thinking is...

Disk 1: 128GB SSD: Boot Drive
Disk 2: 320GB Clone drive + Time Machine Backup for Disk 1
    Disk 3: 2TB scratch/storage drive
Disk 4: 3TB Time Machine for Disk 3
Disk 5: 2TB clone of Disk 3. What do you think, needed?

Then, have an external drive to clone both Disk 1 and Disk 3 that will be off-site.

    How does that sound?
You could consider something like this:

I've got two 20" widescreens attached to my Power Mac at home, and I like dual screens a lot more than I thought I would. I went dual screen originally because it was the cheapest way to get the most screen space. Like a lot of people, it seems, I ended up using one screen to house all the applications I want open all the time (Adium, iTunes, pearLyrics, Mail, Finder window), and have the entire other screen for working on whatever it is I'm working on. I like having the dedicated "space" for all that stuff.

I've watched a movie on my Power Mac just once, but I also liked that I could have one whole screen dedicated to the movie, and still have another separate space for surfing the web or playing solitare or whatever else I wanted to do.

The bezel on the screens doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would and the screens just seem to kind of bleed together.

If I had to choose between two 20"s and one 24", I'd likely go with the two 20"s, especially if it were cheaper. What he said..

Or, you could always just say screw it and get dual 23" screens. :)

    Hello,

Is it possible to browse through the file system on the iPad2? Is there a home directory where I can organize my documents, music, videos, etc? I like to be able to create new folders.

I am not talking about doing this through iTunes, as sometime I am always on the go and would like to create a directory based on my clients. I am just wondering is it possible to create and delete folders, and browse thought them on the iPad?

    Many thanks for any suggestions,

hi, I'm a firewire clamshell owner and I am looking for the AV cable needed to mirror the display to a TV or projector. To make this easier, here is its description from apple:

    "Apple AV Cable for iBook

Need to display to a TV through your iBook's AV port? This cable will allow you to connect your iBook to a large screen television."

and I have attached the pic. I was hoping someone had one they weren't using that I could get on the cheap, since the 30 bucks Apple charges seems exorbitant for a 6 year old computer, and I've had a hard time finding one on ebay. Thanks in advance for any replies!

i love flash sites and this one is interesting, but i defiantly agree with the accessibility comment, which is odd, because i feel that interaction, especially when its a highly immersive and exploratory experience, leaves a much more vibrant and notable mark than more static sites. i think also one other thing to point out, interaction removed completely, is that this site is very well designed visually (which is where most people fail IMO).

a quick break down of simple tricks.
    - uses flashes drawing API
    - mimics 3d using scale, rotation and color.
    - sound architecture also aides into tricking you into depth (though i feel the pencil sounds are a bit random)

I have an iPad. I downloaded a software from Apple App Store, only to find that it was for iPhone with the small screen.

I completed a form on line and submitted to Apple App Store for a refund but only to be told to contact the software company. I emailed the software company, who told me to contact Apple App Store for the refund. Im getting the runaround.

Anyone else has experienced this kind of runaround? Any suggestion as to how I can get a refund either from Apple App Store or the software company?

Jobs has been critical of desktop computers with a touchscreen. He basically thinks touching a monitor is an ergonomic nightmare and based on his critical remarks, I highly doubt we'll see one.

Plus the UI of OSX is geared towards the mouse and keyboard, so a touch interface wouldn't be too useful. This is one reason why windows based tablets have failed because the UI is geared towards mouse/keyboard
