    Hey Guys,
I want to be able to disable local snapshots in build 11A444d, as it is messing up the Time Machine background.

    Stuff

Calm down guys. Yebot, thanks for making this thread, and for pointing out something that Arn agrees should be done. That's an *extremely* rare honour. You should feel proud of that. You are literally one in several million, and I mean that seriously.

Your old post that got deleted didn't give any useful detail, and your post in this thread does. Look at all the thanks you're getting from other members.

Forums links are automatically rewritten with this site's affiliate codes where applicable. We should disclose that somewhere.

    arn

I don't have a problem with that, as long as it's stated somewhere, like you say. FAQ seems the right place.

My fave traditional RPG is Golden Sun 1 and 2. Not my genre really so the simple play mechanics sorta helped.

I wouldn't recommend a pan type head for landscape photography either. Maybe it was because I only used cheap quality pan heads (the ones they put on junk tripods) but a good quality ballhead is far superior to that. Once the tension is set properly, you can simply grab the camera, adjust it on the ballhead to whatever arbitrary orientation you want, and when you let go it stays in place. No muss, no fuss, no messing with locking down 3 separate axis levers, etc. Just put the camera where you want it and it stays, period.

A pan head is most useful in video applications because you can easily pan one axis independently and smoothly, with a ballhead the panning motion won't be quite as smooth.

I like it. It's simple. I REALLY like the second one. Make text black-on-blue instead of white-on-blue. Maybe at a few blue spots or something up top too. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, while that was some good background info, I guess I need to ask more questions.

What is a good yet inexpensive turnkey ISP? I mean turnkey like they have tons of templates I can manipulate, they can reg my domain names, and offer enough bandwidth to take care of a start up nothing site, I will not sell anything from this site, it will be more info about me and what I do.

I want to "Brand" myself so to speak.

I will offer links and post testimonials or recommendations from others.

I want to keep this inexpensive, but not afraid to spend where it needs spending.

Should I use a .biz domain?

So this mean the drives are now down at a scale where they can be squeezed into a notebook form factor, in which case maybe seeing a SuperDrive in the next rev of the TiBooks isnt to unrealistic. [/B]

I believe this Sony notebook is over 1.5 inches thick though...maybe even 1.8 inches thick. I could be wrong, but Sony, as well as other PC manufactuers have been making tankbooks... 8-9lbs, 15-16" Screens, HUGE footprint etc. Maybe it will still be hard to get a SuperDrive in a 1" thick notebook, but Apple will do it soon. By the way, the Sony is supposedly available in Japan now. I own a Sony and a Apple...and have no problem liking both.

No. The X1900 is 25% stronger. The Quadro's only good point is the extra ram. Its not worth the extra money.

    Hello (again) 300D.

We already talked about this. Where do you get the 25%. Tests have shown that the card is about as fast as the 7800.

Steve Jobs and My Life of Crime

Steve Jobs has taught me many things, directly and indirectly, over the years. But one of the most useful and memorable is the correct method of breaking and entering a locked executive office.

It was sometime in 1978, and Apple had recently moved into a new building on Bandley Drive in Cupertino. The building had four quadrants: northwest was Engineering, southwest was Administration, southeast was Manufacturing, and northeast was empty (for the moment) and housed a ping-pong table. Steve was working in the early evening and I was in a nearby cubicle writing technical documentation.

I dont remember if I heard loud swearing or not, I cant imagine there wasnt. But Steve was late for an evening appointment and had locked his keys in his office. The administrative staff (Sherri Livingston) had gone home and he was stuck. I popped my head over the cubicle wall and he said "Espinosa, c'mover here."

What he wanted me to do was to stand on a chair, push up an acoustic tile into the suspended ceiling, hoist myself up into the ceiling space and balance on the aluminum door framing, pop out the tile on the other side, and drop into his office. Though short, nerdy and allergic to sports I was still wiry and limber, and Apple was a such a free-form place I didnt consider that breaking into the company founders office was out of my job description.

It took moments, I didnt fall and break my fool neck or twist my ankle on the eight foot drop, and after I popped the door open Steve grabbed his keys, thanked me warmly, and left. I went back to my writing with a new job skill under my belt. It came in handy several times over the years when I locked myself out of my own office after hours, and once when an Engineering VP found a large poster of John Sculley Scotch-taped to the inside of his office window. (He had Security investigate for weeks and never figured out how it was done.)

I hope that my readers can appreciate that Breaking Into Other Peoples Offices Is Wrong and that this knowledge should be used only for good, never for evil. (And Ive been chagrined to note that some buildings have pony walls that extend a couple feet into the ceiling space to make this trick harder.) But you should also take to heart that in any job there are always new, useful skills to be learned.

    How incredibly awesome.

Windows cannot be booted from external disks easily.

Normally you just backup content, erase the drive, and format as GUID journaled volume.

How to I add text to the end of an NSString?
    Thanks

Create a new NSString with the new one added (either through stringByAppendingString or @"%@ blah blah",oldstring).

    Or use NSMutableStrings.

Create a second user account on the PS3, and set the region as the one you want to get items from. That way, when you go to the PSN Store, it will show the items for that region.

I did this very thing when the Killzone 2 demo came out. It was only available in Europe, UK, etc. I just made another user, set the region to "Ireland" and downloaded away. Granted, this was a demo, not a purchase, but I wouldn't think it would be any different.

I resetup my iphone from scratch without restoring my backed up data in itunes. Is it possible to recover just the photos from my backup without restoring the backup?
