Any chance you can post them here, instead of having to join another forum to see them?

This is the future, right here!
The mouse and keyboard were invented before the Internet even existed. Since then, countless technological advancements have allowed for much more efficient human computer interaction. Why then do we continue to use outdated technology? Introducing Gmail Motion -- now you can control Gmail with your body.

Really doing a clean sweep of the garage. Found old boxes with of old hardware cards (i.e. some old VR Xtreme 4MB (!!!) I paid $280 for back in the day) and lots of software (floppies and cd-roms). Even found my original MacPaint install floppy!

Would hate to dump it all in the landfill since some of it is probably "shiny" for a Machead. Is it okay to post what I have here on MacRumors and give it away?

(Except for the MacPaint floppy. I'm going to frame that puppy!)

China can be a funny place. Everyone's got a cellphone, and dropping a thousand USD on an iPhone 4 is just a part of staying up to date. But a couple days ago I saw something that showed just how popular the iPhone 4 is in Apple's fastest growing market.

    http://i54.tinypic.com/10h8yh1.jpg

I was checking out the new MBP upstairs when I saw an old man in cheap clothes, worn shoes and no socks using an iPhone with the original packaging plastic kept on with packing tape wrapped around to keep it on. He was scrolling through some sort of article.

The cult of Apple stretches its tendrils to every corner of the world. You can pick clothes up off the streets, but you gotta have an iPhone 4!

will it be as durable as the previous black macbook? the casing on the current and previous white macbooks is simple atrocious, you can get 10 scratches in the first week, with black macbooks you only wont even get 10 scratches in a year! unless your really clumsy. i replaced the casing on my white early 2009 9400m macbook with black casing, it was an extremely smart decision. also will the new plastic macbooks still have a glossy keyboard like the unibody plastic, or a matte keyboard like the old ones?

The iMac will be better in the long run. You get an incredibly nice screen, a nice keyboard, a mouse that should be thrown in the trash as soon as you receive your package, and much better hardware than you would from the Mac Mini.

I don't hate the Magic Mouse... I don't love it either... but it's not too bad for just basic stuff... it's **** for gaming though... then again... I use a Trackman on my iMac... :P

Thanks for the link. It didn't quite explain to me how Stanford was using MPI for Folding Distributing though.

So has Stanford been treating all the users cpus as a remote processing units and distributing to them as a big collective supercomputer? It seems rather inefficient. I've always thought that they were breaking down the large task into smaller tasks that could be downloaded processed and then transmitted back.

What currently happens from what I can tell. is the work unit is downloaded. It is one smaller task as you put it. However, you will notice in your activity monitor that it runs as four different processes currently running. Plus an extra control process. For these to communicate with each other they have to use a local version of MPI. As they are different applications. The new method will be different as it will be written as one application. But separate threads. This allows them to communicate much more easily.

Thats my understanding atleast. Correct me if I am wrong.

Funny in the beginning but it got old. With advertising you don't want to keep replaying the same old same old. People start tuning out.

They were good, but it was time to discontinue them.

    Exactly.

At the beginning, the ads were smug.

After 6 months, they were smug and starting to get old. The series was no longer fresh.

That's when Apple and their marketing group decided to run the ads for another few years, until everyone, even people like my parents who don't care about computers, disliked the ads.

Olympic games are worthless without the power pad :) Just sit on the ground on your knees and pound the mat with your fists at drum like speed...the only way to beat Cheata.

The power pad is (not was, is) awesome. But there's a better way to run fast. Use your heels. :)

"If you beat me, you're the best." :D

My advice is if you are not tech savvy enough to understand the activity monitor don't look at it. If you're not tech savvy enough to check your RAM usage, don't check it. If you're not savvy enough to understand x, then don't worry about x.

So you think Apple should allow iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G, even though it cripples it beyond use?

That is a pointless and incorrect exaggeration. I have used iOS 4 on my 3G since the day it was released and yes, in some situations I notice a slight slowdown but not to the point that it would be annoying and certainly not "crippled beyond use". Overall I find my 3G far more usable now with folders speeding up the process of finding applications greatly and the "quick switch" feature of iOS compatible applications also speeds up the launch of many applications significantly.
