PS: and this is my last rant on the subject...the 1199 vs 1799 is a big diference, no question... but that isnt attributable to a discrete GPU. Youre talking a larger footprint (more alum/mobo/battery/etc), bigger display with higher res, CPU bump, and HDD. All Im saying is that at 1199, Apple should bless it's entire MBP line with discrete GPU's (didnt say it had to be a 430m with 2GB of VRAM)...save the integrated for MBA/MB

Don't apply the phone dynamic to Tablets. Android is not likely to take a lead in tablet market share for a long time if forever.
It really doesn't matter what the percentages are. At some point, the growth rate for tablets will start to slow down. By then, if you aren't already working on the next big thing, you're in trouble.
The point is that Apple is likely to be working to be working on that product already. The question is whether companies like Moto, Samsung, and HP are.

Many people have already said in this thread that you can already easily move an app from one machine to another. You just need to log in with your iTunes/App Store account.

Why is Apple stopping this? Because it provides publicity to jailbreaking. They may have other reasons for it, but I'll wager more than any other, drawing attention to jailbreaking is the main reason why this bothers them.

Again, as a company which tightly controls the user experience of their devices and doesn't like news such as security flaws, I'm sure there are many things which bother them about jailbreaking, but again there is probably one primary cause: software piracy. Jailbreaking enables software piracy and there's not a whole lot that even the jailbreaking community can do about that.
And then there's a few more nails in the coffin: a jailbreak must take advantage of a security flaw in Apple devices or software in order to be performed, and Apple must patch these flaws in order to maintain their device security. Even if Apple didn't care about jailbreaking so much they should continue patching the flaws, thus the cat and mouse game. So why doesn't Apple just allow it by default? See the earlier points, especially piracy. Apple is going to oppose jailbreaking to the end and they have legitimate reasons to do so. I like to jailbreak my devices from time to time, but I see where they're coming from.

Thinking you can get away with this simply by switching brands is mental.
Bottom line, if you don't want to be "tracked" (location recorded) don't own a cellphone. Those cellphone towers always know where you are =-O

I'd rather go to a store and get Lion which will probably only take a hour, rather than waiting a days for a 58GB+ download to finish. (No, I'm not buying it online, Apple's courier here is very slow and unreliable when buying small boxed items (OS X, iPods, etc.) at the Apple Store.)

I don't see why Apple would put a mobile chip into the iMac. I bought one for my work around a month ago and yes, its portable but not that portable.

1. Soft drink bottles are now measured in one and two-liter sizes for the large bottles.
2. Medicine are all measured in milligrams for the amount of medicine in each pill.
The problem with the rest going metric is the ENORMOUS conversion cost for packaging sizes, home appliance settings, and changing road signs. Maybe the plan should be phased in over a ten-year period....

Get a battery pack to charge it at some point. The iPhone 4 is pretty high up on the scale of battery life among smartphones. I don't think it's going to increase because we all seem to be happy with this general battery life area.
They can keep the form factor, just give us a bigger screen. Stretch it to the bezel.

If in fact Apple waits until September for the iPhone 5 and even then only have a speed bump and a slightly better camera, this picture is only going to get worse. They need 4G, a larger screen, a microSD slot or a bump to 64 GB, a USB input, and the rest of the MODERN hardware features that HTC phones are putting out almost monthly.
It's NOT about the OS - who the heck cares. The OS is transparent at this point. They are close enough not to make a difference. And the Android app market is catching up tp the iOS app market at least in terms of bigger name quality apps (not so much the 10,000 iOS fart apps out there), and that difference is shrinking all the time.
It's all about hardware now - and the iPhone is currently woefully behind -and probably will remain until mid next year.

I�m interested in what Apple will do with the 15� MBP. If Apple doubled the resolution of the 1440x900 display, then going from a 1680x1050 MBP to this new 2880x1800 MBP means an increase in DPI but a decrease in viewable information.

Maybe a new line, but I cant see the MBP line going ARM. Possibly the Airs. Windows 8 will be ARM compatible + x86 so it could happen...

if apple believes itself to be too much confident or arrogant because they think market share will continue grow, and people will buy Apple stuff, then they will replace their own processor? then all efforts to be build great company will be fallen. they will go back to where they were struggle (say 1997?). it's what they want, go ahead.
