Well they are not really french:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_fries

Right. That's the irony of it.

Or megaWatts. Look into large generators and data center infrastructure.

Okay. 'No one' was a hyperbole.

Gosh, I can't get anything past you guys today! ;)

Whoaaaaaaa! Easy! This game has no time limits. I'm not in any hurry to expedite our exploration and prefer a slower, more systematic approach with the strength of the full group intact. Also, this game is a group game, not DP v. Villain. I think majority group input within reasonable timeframes ( everyone is able to play at different times of the day) and consensus is important. At least at this time.

that is exactly what we did: kept together, and very conservatively explored the room we are in and then move to another room.

we couldn't be moving any slower than we are

what are the odds that apple, in order to reinvent the mobile experience, has teamed with a voip chip maker etc. to provide mobile voice and video (ichat mobile) over IP?

this somehow makes more sense than co-branding a unit or "piggy backing" onto current carriers... then again, failure on this scale would be the biggest "jump the shark" moment in their history.

"If you have a stick that is 3' 7 13/16" and need to divide it into 3 equal sections, what is the length of the each section to the nearest 1/64 inch?" as opposed to "If you have a stick that 1233 mm long....." - and no, I didn't check to see if they are the same

I'd use a calculator in either example, so it's a moot point.

Out of interest, how would you enter (3' 7 13/16") / 3 into a standard calculator? That would be a nightmare I would think, and quite prone to errors. 1233 / 3 is pretty easy!

As relevant as saying Apple sells more phones than Android does . . . oh wait, Android isn't a phone seller/manufacturer.

Well Apple doesn't sell its software for use on any other phones (or computers), so how is it competing with software-installed numbers on all hardware types? If people were shifting from Samsung or Motorola phones with Apple iOS to Samsung or Motorola phones with Android, than Apple would be losing in the software market.

This has always be a case of apples to broccoli (yeah, it's not even a fruit versus fruit comparison).

To be fair, I think you are thinking of MacOSRumors (MOSR), not MacOSXRumors. The former have a terrible record in regards to rumours (ie they make up everything), while the latter seem to be a bit more reliable. Shame they are named so similarly though.

    You're right.

    Thanks for the correction.

It's obvious. The answer is ALWAYS 42.

As for the math, the equation is ambiguous. Another set of parentheses would help.

    I love your first answer.

Still disagree with the second part, though..

Are these specific Mac GPU's with Mac roms or can we finally use a selection of PC GPU's? If so then the base GPU isn't an issue, just use it for the second screen.
what will happen if I use bootcamp and put in a PC grafic card?

Interesting, if we get Windows to work with PC GPU cards then Apple has no other option than to support these cards also or at least try to. If these are normal PC cards then the MacPro wil be the coolest machine on earth in the hard core gaming community.

I don't blame any company who looks at what Apple has done to people who are trying to create services for the iOS platform and decides that they don't want to go there.

They hold up Google Voice and other apps in endless app review purgatories, embarrassing the companies that spent valuable resources developing them. They look at companies that have created amazing magazine apps or streaming media apps, and now they say that they demand the opportunity to market subscriptions to those services and take a 30% cut.

Amazon looks at the situation and knows that Apple will very likely either hold up their app or demand a 30% cut of their subscription fees, and either case is unacceptable. This is especially likely to happen since this new Amazon service seems to compete directly with the cloud services that Apple is gearing up to offer.

    Couldn't say it better myself.

What happens if I'm listening to a song with my headphones and a call comes in. Will it pause the song and allow me to answer the call? Will I be able to use the headphones for the call? Will they build a microphone into that I don't have to hold the thing up to my head like some cell's speaker phones do?

It seems reasonable to assume that the cell phone will pause your music, and you will be able to talk into a mic on the headset. Additionally, there would probably be a button on the headset so you can answer and hang up a call (and adjust volume/tracks) without taking the phone out of your pocket. My ancient Samsung Uproar (http://www.samsungtelecom.com/uproar/index.html) had all those capabilities (and a whopping 64 MB RAM!) more than 5 years ago.

(I actually really liked that phone...I only stopped using it because I had to switch from Sprint due to unbearable lack of reception.)

I keep on looking at their real time up dates on there website, hoping to see a change.... Lol. I wonder when shipments usually come in. You would think big shipments like that come in the early morning or late at night, but who knows.

    What isn't new?

    This is what I think:

    -Financial report
-Update report of Macs using Intel processors
    -Update report of universal applications
    -Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) preview

    One more thing......

-Mac Pro (Intel powered PowerMac) announced. Will ship with Woodcrest. Will ship early-mid September.

-(Very slim chance of announcement) Intel powered Xserve

It's very likely that Apple's been ripped off left right. I wouldn't be surprised. These also-rans can barely manage to copy, let alone innovate anything worth using.

Hilarious that companies are copying Apple rumors now.

Arn, we need an article that Apple is developing a space ship!

Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO) already has a company devoted to space research.

As for having a feel for the numbers, he's not alone. I have nearly 20 years of professional experience using Imperial units as a mechanical engineer, as does every mechanical engineer in the U.S. Switching systems (or, rather, making it mandatory) will require all of these engineers to re-learn the formulae they've known and used for decades. That's the equivalent of millions of man-years of engineering experience down the drain. That isn't progress, no matter how much you might want want to believe it is.

 Not progress because you'd have to relearn something? Mate, what progress would ever have been made if people always held to that argument? In the 80's/90's there were probably more than a few people in the design/publishing industry saying, 'Sorry, can't switch to Macs… Got 20 years experience rubbing Letraset down and maintaining my bromide machine.'

If true...sounds like iPhone 3GS and iPad 1 owners are going to be shown the door.

We'll see, but I plan to upgrade from my iPad 1 to an iPad 3 when available anyways.

The "look" of icons clearly can not be patented.

Absolutely false. For instance on MArch 18, 2011 alone, the EU awarded Apple about 24 patents on icons (patentlyapple.com)

I'm surprised it's taken this long, to be honest: I've thought for a long time that Samsung's phones in particular are pretty much a blatant rip-off of Apple's industrial design and user interface.
HTC have shown that they can produce an innovative and different interface with their Sense UI, but Samsung seem to just want to rip-off Apples look and feel

This seems like an inevitable move in the convergence of iOS devices and Mac computers. They will eventually be the same thing. Powerful, robust, thin, power efficient, easy to use touch interface. Lion is moving in the direction of the iPad and iOS in general. The iPad has been gaining more Mac-like features and robust applications. I think the time tables are probably off. I don't see this happening for 4 to 5 years at the earliest. But with billions upon billions in cash reserves, Apple can pretty much do whatever they want!
